Enrico Boi, ISTT Chairman
During 2016, the ISTT co-operated with the CISTT the NASTT to launch a new and exciting international initiative; ‘Trenchless in the Americas’. This initiative will incorporate the relatively mature markets in North America and the exciting growth markets of Central and South America.
‘Trenchless in the Americas’ will begin with ISTT’s 35th International No-Dig Conference and Exhibition, hosted in conjunction with the NASTT’s annual No-Dig Show held in 9-13 April 2017 in Washington, D.C. At the time of writing, the show was already making history with a fully booked exhibition featuring 200+ exhibitors, an incredible technical program with speakers from around the world, two short courses, six good practices courses, and thousands of international visitors expected to attend.
The second event of ‘Trenchless in the Americas’ – the CISTT’s Trenchless World Congress – will be held in Plaza Mayor Conference and Exhibition Centre on 25-27 September 2017 in Medellin, Colombia. This event will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about the large developing markets of Central and South America.
I invite you all to attend this great show to explore new technologies and new markets. At the Gala Dinner, the ISTT will host its annual No-Dig Award ceremony for achievements in the categories of Academic Research, New Machine and Equipment, Project (New Installation), Project (Rehabilitation), and Student Paper.
In addition to ‘Trenchless in the Americas’, the ISTT’s Affiliated Societies are also busy with their own events.
Recently ISTT Vice Chairman Jari Kaukonen participated in the Trenchless Middle East. The show was organised by Westrade at the Jumeirah Beach Conference and Exhibition Centre, Dubai, UAE.
On 28-31 March 2017, the GSTT hosted its 3rd No Dig Berlin Symposium and Exhibition. From all reports No Dig Berlin was a huge success.
On 14-16 April the CSTT will host the International Trenchless Technology Conference at Suzhou International Expo Center, Jiangsu, China.
Shortly after this, the UKSTT will hold an HDD Masterclass on 26 April at the National Motorcycle Museum, West Midlands, UK.
The TSITT will host the 3rd Water Loss Forum on 25-26 May at the Congresium, in Ankara, Turkey. The event is being supported by the General Directorate of Water Management of Turkey under the auspices of Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs of Turkey.
Finally, the FSTT will host Ville Sans Tranchée on 20-22 June 2017 at the Parc Des Expositions de l’île des Impressionnistes à Chatou, in Paris, France.
For further information on these and other events visit the ISTT’s website.
I would also like to draw your attention to an important ISTT initiative launched last year: a new education and training grant program that provides financial support to Affiliated Societies’ education and training efforts. A maximum of £5,000 (US$6,200) will be awarded to a qualified society and a total of £10,000 (US$12,400) will be allocated for the grant program. Applications are open to all Affiliated Societies. The deadline for application is 1 July 2017. Contact me for more information.
