The Venezuelan engineers that built and constructed the machine have been recognised by the Colombian Institute for Subterranean Infrastructure Technologies and Techniques (ICTIS).
ICTIS has awarded the Zillante brothers the Ingenio Trenchless Colombia at its 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner.
The engineers, both born in Venezuela before migrating to Colombia, have constructed the first tunnelling machine to be built in Colombia, and possibly Latin America.
PROCIMEC were also recognised for its innovation with the company’s developments in photographic integration with drones to locate public service networks with ground penetrating radar and other non-invasive equipment.
The award recipients were decided by a jury comprising the Louisiana Tech University Trenchless Technology Center’s Dr Tom Iseley and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá’s Professor Luis Alberto Jaramillo.
