The United Kingdom Society for Trenchless Technology (UKSTT) has elected Dawn Grieg as its first female chair.
With a background in senior management, Ms Greig has more than 10 years in the trenchless sector through her association with Picote, working closely with the company’s research, development and production teams.
Ms Greig said that she is extremely proud to be elected to this role, having been on the council board for several years and serving as Vice Chair to Mathew Izzard for the past two years.
“The UKSTT has established itself as the ‘go to’ organisation for the UK trenchless sector,” said Ms Grieg.
“We still have so much to do and to achieve in terms of getting trenchless technology recognised for the advantages it offers, despite many of the technologies now being seen as the preferred option when it comes to pipe work installation, maintenance and repair.”
“Our aim is to continue growing the industry by bringing these techniques to the attention of our current working professionals and educators alike to influence the next generation of engineers.”
Two other affiliate member organisations of the ISTT have previously appointed female Chairs; Gerda Held was elected Chair of the Danish Society for Trenchless Technology and Kim Staheli to the North American Society for Trenchless Technology.
