A US relining contractor has completed sanitary sewer upgrades using cured-in-place pipe (CIPP).
Insituform Technologies USA completed the CIPP installation of a large diameter main sewer under a busy road in the Village of Lake Zurich, Illinois.
The company was contracted as part of the village’s ongoing program to extend the life of ageing infrastructure.
The scope of work included assessment and cleaning of the asset, relining activities and CCTV inspection after installation.
The relining of each section typically took place within a 12 hour window.
CIPP was selected because it offers limited ground disturbance to the surrounding area, particularly as the road is heavily used for trucking operations.
The contractor is currently working on connecting service lines to the new sewer, which is expected to be completed by 24 May 2019.
The village has also announced relining of a 30 inch (762 mm) diameter sanitary sewer is planned for next month.
