E-Berk Tunnelling & Foundation Technologies (E-Berk) has completed a microtunnelling project in Tunisia.
The company’s 2.4 m diameter microtunnel boring machine (MTBM), named ‘Asia’, has successfully completed excavation activities for the Rades C Combined-Cycle Power Plant project.
The state-owned 450 MW natural gas-fired plant is currently under construction approximately 10 km east of the country’s capital Tunis.
Construction works on the project began in early 2018 and the plant is scheduled to commence partial operations this year.
The project is tabled to be fully operational in 2020.
Once completed, the gas plant will contribute approximately 10 per cent of Tunisia’s power production capacity.
