A representative from an ISTT Affiliated Society has been elected to the World Water Council (WWC) Board.
At the eighth General Assembly of WWC, in Marseille, France on 30 November – 1 December 2018, the organisation elected its new Board of Governors, including Turkish Society for Infrastructure and Trenchless Technology (TSITT) Chair Yasin Torun.
In recent years, Mr Torun has also served on the ISTT’s Executive Sub Committee.
The board will oversee the implementation of the council’s triennial strategy, building on the achievements and work of the previous three years.
Mr Torun said he was honoured by the appointment and aims to use the role to increase the awareness of trenchless solutions and benefits among WWC members.
Also at the meeting, the newly-appointed governors elected Loïc Fauchon to serve as WWC President.
The organisation’s mission is to mobilise action on critical water issues at all levels, including with decision makes, by engaging people in debate and challenging conventional thinking.
WWC focuses on the political dimensions of water security, adaptation and sustainability.
