The German Institute for Underground Infrastructure (IKT) has released a report on short liners for house connection pipe repair.
In its most recent comparison project, which examines the comparative performance of a number of relining projects, IKT found, in principle, short liners can make good quality repairs to house connection pipes, even when the pipe is severely damaged.
During the assessment, eight short liner systems were tested and achieved scores ranging from ‘satisfactory’ to ‘very good’.
There were significant performance differences between the systems that were examined.
Of the 8 tested, TwinBond Liner was the best performer with a score of 1.2 and a rating of ‘very good’ (1.2), while Trelleborg’s epros® DrainPacker followed closely with a score of 1.4 and also achieved a ‘very good’ rating.
The Bodenbender Point-Liner® System (1.7), Berolina Repair System (2.5), Cosmic Engineering TopHat System (2.5) and MC Konudur LM-Liner (2.5) received a ‘good’ rating, while Alocit short liner (2.7) and I.S.T. Spot Repair System (2.9) were rated as ‘satisfactory’.

The comparison project took place in cooperation with 12 sewer network operators and was funded by the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Environment and the network operators.
