Former ISTT Chariman Dr Samuel Ariaratnam is one of 57 new Fellows to be inducted into the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE).
The inductees were named at CAE’s Annual General Meeting and Symposium in June 2018.
CAE Fellows provide strategic advice on matters of critical importance to Canada, in a commitment to ensuring that engineering expertise is applied for the benefit of the country and community.
Dr Ariaratnam brings to the role his expertise as an internationally renowned leader in horizontal directional drilling and trenchless engineering applications.
His research and technology development focus on construction engineering and applications of underground trenchless techniques, and during his career he has published more than 300 technical reports and papers, co-authored eight textbooks and holds four patents.
“In the past, Fellows of Academy have produced major studies in the fields of education, energy and the innovation,” said CAE President Eddy Isaacs.
“We look forward with boundless anticipation to how these new Fellows will build upon these good works and explore new and exciting areas of engineering and its impact on public policy.”
