No-Dig Down Under will be held on 12-15 September 2017 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia. The event will feature a number of training courses, a two-day conference program, a large-scale exhibition hall, and more.
The program for this year’s ASTT Conference and Exhibition is bursting at the seams. The No-Dig Down Under team has been working hard to produce a program of events that will ensure every event attendee gets value for money. The following article provides a sneak preview of the event program so far, including details of the preliminary conference program.
Conference program highlights
This year, the ASTT received an unprecedented number of abstract submissions for the conference program.
The full program was released in June 2017; some of the highlights are listed below.
- Scott Stevens – Principal Civil Engineer, Queensland Urban Utilities
- Dr Dec Downey – 2016 ISTT Gold Medalist, former Chairman of the UKSTT, and Consultant at Trenchless Opportunities.
- Dr Tom Iseley – Director of International Operations at the Trenchless Technology Center of Louisiana Tech University
No-Dig Down Under 2017 will feature two panel sessions. The first panel session, which is open only to conference attendees, will be held at 1.30pm on Thursday 14 September.
The session will follow on from a conference stream focused on microtunnelling and will provide a forum to discuss the development of a new set of microtunnelling design guidelines. These guidelines are being developed by the ASTT microtunnelling special interest group (SIG), chaired by Jim Shooter.
The second panel session is free to attend, and will be held in the Exhibition Hall at 10am on Friday 15 September. The session will consider options to better improve collaboration and knowledge exchange between utilities and trenchless professionals.
The panel will feature a number of representatives from utilities across Australasia, providing a good opportunity for event attendees to make contacts with key individuals within local authorities.
Local and international speakers
In addition to the keynote presentations and panel sessions, No-Dig Down Under will feature a two-streamed conference program running over two full days. Presentations will cover safety, utility mapping, water mains, condition assessment, horizontal directional drilling, major projects, design, and more.
Companies presenting as part of the program include Cairns Regional Council, Yarra Valley Water, Unitywater, AECOM, Insituform, the University of Waterloo, Primus Line, ITS PipeTech, Tapex, and others. The program features a good number of international experts presenting on topics relevant to the Australasian industry.
