Salini Impregilo‘s new contract award for the construction of a residential area in Shamal, Qatar, will include a substantial trenchless component.
The project, worth a total of â‚¬300 million, is part of the Framework Contract for Local Roads and Drainage Program.
Part of a consortium created with Bin Omran of Qatar, Salini Impregilo out competed three consortiums from the Gulf area, Asia, and the United States, to win the contract.
Awarded by the Public Works Authority of Ashghal, the works package has a 30 month time frame and includes the planning and design of an irrigation water system, which will be installed using microtunnelling.
The 1,000+ hectare residential development is located approximately 100 km from Doha, Qatar’s capital, in the far northern region of the Gulf State.
