The focus of UAMTT includes:

  • Promotion of Trenchless Technology
  • Education in Trenchless Technology

The membership base includes construction companies from different areas of the Ukraine with experience in Trenchless Technology, a Ukrainian manufacturer of trenchless equipment; Odessa Construction and Finishing Machinery Plant, the Dashukovsk Bentonites corporation and representatives of two universities. In 2009 the association was joined by the Research Institute of Construction Production (Kiev), a part of the State Construction Ministry of Ukraine. Together the two organisations plan to co-operate in perfecting the existing technical normative documentation for underground construction.

The UAMTT publishes a bulletin No-Dig News, distributed to members.

The publication of the first national manual Machines for installation of trenchless communications has become important for members. It was issued by Kharkov Regional Co-ordination Council on issues of gas supply, with the support of the UAMTT expert panel. The manual contains a description of methods, equipment, material and other useful information.

International connections

The UAMTT said that the most important event for the UAMTT was joining the ISTT during the 26th International No-Dig in Moscow. The Ukrainian Association recognises its responsibility as a member of the ISTT and regards its membership in the international society as a new stimulus for further development of Trenchless Technology in the Ukraine.

Trenchless talk

The annual conference organised by the Association has become an important event for trenchless technologists in the Ukraine, pictured below. The UAMTT also holds joint seminars with city authorities and sponsors TV programs about Trenchless Technology.

Members take part in national conferences, advocating the use of trenchless techniques. A successful example of this in 2008 was a report on modern technologies of underground construction and the determination of labour costs. This interesting paper became a starting point for a detailed discussion of the labour costs estimation in working out budgets for projects. The UAMTT said this issue is of great importance for Ukraine, as the existing normative bases do not take into consideration the use of new technologies and modern equipment used in trenchless construction and reconstruction.
