The company will replace approximately 1.5 km of old metal gas mains with new hard-wearing plastic pipes.

National Grid is working with Veolia Water and the London Borough of Barnet to complete the works, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.

Pipes will be inserted in to the old mains in Page Street and Pursley Road which means no trenches will need to be dug.

However, the size and position of existing gas mains means new mains will have to be laid in open trenches in Wise Lane. To reduce disruption in Wise Lane, National Grid is sharing part of the trench with Veolia Water.
