Sparta Board members approved a resolution to authorise the issuance of a $US1,590,000 note for construction of water and sewer system improvements and extensions. An additional amount of approximately $US1.4 million will be funded through a grant provide by Rural Development Agency.

Projects designated for this funding include the design of sewer rehabilitation by either pipe bursting method, dig and lay method, or cured-in-place (CIPP) methods, in basins 7, 8, 9 and 10.

The city’s portion of the funding will be paid with revenues generated from the water and sewer system. However, in the event such revenues are insufficient, ad valorem taxes (a tax based on the value of real estate or personal property) will be levied on all taxable property within the City of Sparta.
