The £1 million project, which will see the improvement of pipes in Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir, and on to edge of Forfar will be underway within several weeks.

Scottish Water Project Manager Mark Mackenzie said "In Perthshire and Angus we are working to improve more than 90 km of mains, cleaning, scouring and replacing significant swathes of the Angus network which are supplied from Lintrathen Water Treatment Works.

“This project will involve carrying out water main rehabilitation works in the centres of Blairgowrie and Kirriemuir and there will be some disruption as a result of these works. However, this disruption will be kept to a minimum by using techniques such as swabbing and lining where appropriate."

The project is part of a multi-million pounds program across Scotland to improve over 4,800 km of water mains, in communities from Ayrshire to Aberdeenshire and the Borders to Argyll and Bute.
