Arcadis said that the majority of basins assigned to the company for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission’s project will be using trenchless sewer rehabilitation methods, such as liners.
Under the contract, the company will provide various engineering services including the development of design documents, environmental permitting, construction administration and community outreach.
Arcadis Vice President Jack Hartigan said the program would help implement wastewater collection system improvements to protect Maryland’s waterways, including the Chesapeake Bay.
“We will draw upon our national experience with innovative Trenchless Technology to rehabilitate underground infrastructure systems with minimal disruption to the above-ground environment,” Mr Hartigan said.

The commission provides drinking water and wastewater services to both Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, including the maintenance and operation of a 5,200 mile sewer system.
The project is expected to take five years to complete.
