Sydney Water’s desalination project includes an 18 kilometre pipeline, 1.8 metre diameter to connect the plant to the water supply. The Blue Water joint venture between John Holland and Veolia Water will use microtunnelling onshore from Captain Cook drive into Botany Bay. The pipeline at Silver Beach will include 800 metres of microtunnelling to protect delicate sea grass beds. The plant is expected to be commissioned next year.
