Mr Gonzales, who has worked in civil engineering and construction for over 40 years, started his career in the Transportation Department in New Orleans, where he gained experience in the engineering, construction and maintenance of underground infrastructure. In 1989 he joined Boh Bros Construction Co, where he became a pioneer in the emerging field of Trenchless Technology, introducing CIPP, directional drilling and pipe bursting to the company.
He joined the NASTT in 1991, by 1995 was elected to the Board, serving as Chairman in 1998. As Chairman, Mr Gonzales played an important role in strengthening the relationship between the NASTT and ISTT, and also established a professional management group. Since 1996, he has also acted as the inaugural president of National Liner Co LLC.
Alongside other NASTT award winners, Mr Gonzales will be honoured at No-Dig Chicago's Gala Dinner Event, to be held on 4 May. Previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement award have included Trent Ralston, Bernie Krzys, Tom Iseley and Bill Gray.
Mr Gonzales resides in New Orleans and is married with three daughters.
