Advanced pipeline systems inspection and monitoring developments
One of the keynote speakers at the Trenchless Technologies in Asia Pacific Hong Kong 2009 conference was Professor Lucio Soibelman from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University. His talk introduced Carnegie’s Mellon Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Advanced Infrastructure Systems (AIS) Group vision and presented an overview of three AIS pipeline related research efforts.

Trenchless International magazine was in attendance at the NASTT’s 2010 No-Dig Conference and Exhibition. The event was held in Chicago from 2–7 May and celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the NASTT.

Chemically restoring pipeline position
Current renewal methods for pipelines and culverts are very effective for pipe function decline and accident prevention, but offer little in the way of rehabilitating meandering and slacks of pipes. Continually expanding urbanisation means that restoring pipeline position using open cut methods has become less desirable, and as such has led to the development of new pipeline position restoration technologies, such as the chemical injection method.
The state of road gully sytems in Germany Part 2

Colombian Society digs deep
A new Trenchless Technology Society has been established in Colombia. The Colombian Institute of Subterranean Infrastructure Technologies and Techniques will encourage the use of trenchless solutions in the vibrant capital Bogotá and throughout the South American country.
