Under the contract, AECOM will provide preliminary and detailed design and construction management services.

The project includes construction of approximately 10,600 ft of main line relief sewer, 4,000 ft of connecting sewers and modification of more than 40 existing system regulators.

Requirements of the contract include large-diameter shallow rock tunnelling and microtunnelling in a tight, congested urban area.

The $US66 million Dugway West Interceptor Relief Sewer is a major connecting facility for almost all of the combined sewer overflow control projects in the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District’s Easterly service area.

When complete, it will provide flow management to reduce the frequency and volume of overflows in the Dugway area and eliminate or consolidate several regulators to ease operation and maintenance.

The project is expected to be completed in 2016.
