The project is in direct response to the recent growth in Abu Dhabi and consists of a 40 km long wastewater tunnel with a pumping station at the end. Additionally, a network of link sewers will connect the existing sewerage network and pumping stations to the wastewater tunnel.

The new wastewater network will discharge the complete sewerage of the City of Abu Dhabi, which has an approximate population of 1 million people.

The first contract award is for the Link Sewer, located at Abu Dhabi Island, and consists of the construction of a 35.7 km sewerage network with diameters ranging from 200 mm to 2,800 mm and 247 shafts for manholes with a depth between 8 m to 26 m.

The second contract is based on Abu Dhabi mainland, in the residential and industrial area, and consists of the construction of a 15.4 km sewerage network with diameters ranging from 200 mm to 3,100 mm and 95 shafts for manholes with a depth between 8 m to 26 m.

Pipe jacking method will be implemented for the construction both of the sewer tunnels.

Overall construction period for both contracts will be 39 months.
